About the PGC
The Peninsula Girls Chorus (PGC) is in its third decade of serving girls across the San Francisco peninsula with nearly 300 girls in six different chorus levels. Girls can start singing with us as early as age 6, providing they are in the 1st grade, and they move up through the levels as they mature and gain choral experience and expertise. Singers typically spend two years at each chorus level, but advancement through the chorus levels may be faster or slower depending on their level of skill and experience. Our six chorus levels are as follows:
In addition to two major concerts every year, our girls perform throughout the community at retirement centers, company galas, tree lightings, professional and collegiate sporting events, and other events as they present themselves. Our performing groups, Concerta and Ensemble, participate in a choir tour every other year.
Besides all of the work and educational emphasis on performance practice and vocal technique, our girls have instruction in musicianship and music theory. All of our conductors have been trained in the Kodály approach to music education (developed by Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodály) and they have experience teaching in school music classrooms in addition to their work as choral conductors. Our conductors help our girls to learn to read music at sight, and also to demonstrate their knowledge through written musicianship work by completing all five book levels in the series, "A Young Singer's Journey: An Integrated Approach to Music Literacy". For more information on the Kodály approach, please visit the Organization of American Kodály Educators website.

All rehearsals except PGC Coastside are held at the Burlingame United Methodist Church, 1443 Howard Ave., Burlingame.
"PGC has provided the absolute best education for our girls. The musicianship education makes our commitment to this group an easy addendum to our girls' overall education."
